The annual BMA's recognizes the top local music artists, chosen by fans. The BMA's include a night of continuous music and performances, all by some of the most talented local names in the industry from Pop, Country, R&B, Gospel, Hip Hop, Rap, Bands, and more. Nominees are based on fans interaction live locally and on social medial platforms.

The Bakersfield Music Awards works with businesses and sponsors to help establish scholarships, leadership opportunities, and support our youth through awards and contributions to our local university, for talented individuals deemed deserving of assistance.

CSUB Music Scholarship

For Students Pursuing a Degree in the Art of Music
Youth that plan to attend, or current students at CSUB, can go to their Financial Aid website to apply for “Bakersfield Music” scholarship. The recipients are chosen by a selection committee based on meeting specific criteria.
Students must be studying "voice" as their primary instrument - which should be expanded to include music production or rap/spoken word majors if they are instituted by the music department. The student must have graduated from a Bakersfield area high school, and have a 2.5 grade point average.
